I do want to set myself up with a solid foundation in coding (extending it in processing/p5, and potentially other programs/languages). I think this year is also an opportunity to try out weird ways to bring different parts of my practice together, and experiment with hybrid materiality/generation. How might typography, coding, illustration, print-making, etc. come together in new/unexpected ways? Also really polishing layout and typesetting skills. Being able to feel really confident in them.
I'm interested in collaboration, and learning how to navigate it better, so potentially setting up participatory experiments or trying things out with my other honours designers.
In terms of soft skills, I want to foreground kindness and empathy in my design work and practice, in approaching issues(representation, culture, etc.) that are important to me and others. To do any of this, I think I should take Honours seriously as a space to build the criticality we talked about in Week 1. A chance to be receptive to new ideas and texts that are challenging, and making sure that I keep operating in this structure of documenting and reflecting, in both subjects. I want to set up good foundations, or solidify them, so I can feel equipped and confident as a designer and researcher.
